Dear Colleagues and Friends,
It is a great pleasure to invite you to the International Workshop on Advanced Endoscopic Techniques – ESD, which will take place May 24 in Andel`s Hotel, Lodz, Poland.
The workshop will be entirely devoted to endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD). ESD is progressively gaining more attention worldwide as a treatment of choice for gastrointestinal epithelial lesions due to its efficacy and excellent long term results. It is also reflected in numbers of guidelines concerning this technique, formulated by both Japanese, European (ESGE – 2015) and Polish (PTKO – 2015) societies of gastrointestinal endoscopy.
We are immenselyproud to invite great cast of speakers from Japan and Poland, who will share their knowledge and experience with this novel endoscopic technique. Among them will be Professor Yutaka Saito – Chief of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Division at National Cancer Center in Tokyo and one of the most recognized experts in ESD. Prof Saito who co-authored the recommendations for ESD applications in Japanese and European settings will present the current status of ESD in Japan and describe in details the role of ESD in treatment of colorectal neoplasia. Professor Hiroto Kita from Teykio University in Tokyo, author of over 80 publications on surgical endoscopy, will give a lecture how ESD is used to treat the tumors of the upper gastrointestinal tract. Our friend, dr Makoto Nishimura, who visited us this year in Brzeziny, will focus in his talks on endoscopic diagnostic of gastrointestinal tumours preoperatively and perform ESD procedures, broadcast live from Hospital in Brzeziny. Dr Nishimura who is Director of Department of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy at Tokyo Metropolitan Geriatric Hospital and Institute of Gerontology, will also discuss the possibilities of participation in endoscopic fellowship programmes with full licence to practice in Japanese hospitals. National consultant for Surgery in Poland, prof. Grzegorz Wallner, will talk about systemic determinants for ESD implementation in Poland, emphasizing on chances for proper reimbussement of procedure from National Health Fund. Precursors of endoscopic submucosal dissection in Poland, doctors Jan Pertkiewicz and Andrzej Bialek will share their expertise in ESD and POEM and discuss the draft version of Polish ESD guidelines.
Our organising committee put the tremendous work in organising a scientific programme that covers all aspects related to ESD presented by world-renowned speakers in form accessible to every participant. We hope to meet your expectations and that all of you will return home enriched with up-to-date knowledge about ESD.
We are looking forward to welcoming you at the workshop in £ód¼!
